Creation Process of Nature and Technology
Christoph Pauschenwein's "Nature" series systematically transforms naturalistic depictions into both analogue and digital abstractions, creating a fascinating dialectic between the opposites of naturalistic painting and abstraction. His artistic engagement with nature, documented photographically and sketched during excursions, forms the foundation of his works. The resulting oil and acrylic paintings, utilizing classic motifs such as landscapes, plants, and waters, are characterized by detailed execution. Through the systematic deconstruction of these images and their transformation into abstract compositions, Pauschenwein opens new perspectives on the perception of nature in art.

The oil and acrylic paintings stand artistically on par with their abstract sibling images and make a striking impression when juxtaposed directly. The tension between figurative reference and formal experimentation creates the allure of the works and challenges viewers to individually engage with the multilayered relationships between art and nature.

It is a metamorphosis from naturalistic painting to analogue and digital abstraction. I spend a lot of time in nature and capture my impressions photographically. I paint the subjects from nature in acrylic and oil on canvas. I am guided by photography, immersing myself meditatively in the image and seeking my own structures. This way, there are always new details for the viewer to discover. From the naturalistic painted image, I derive analogue and digital abstractions. These aim to provide thematic content for a dialogue between humans and technology.
Every brushstroke, every digital element, is part of a deep dialogue between me, my environment, and the endless possibilities of creation. It is a lengthy process – a painting is created through many layers of paint. I find it exciting to juxtapose classical painting with digital abstraction.
I print the digitally created abstract images on various materials such as glass or aluminum. They can also be adapted in size and material to the architectural conditions.
